
Introduction
This assessment brief document provides guidance to Tutors, Assessors, Internal Quality Assurers, and Learners for successfully meeting the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Environmental and Sustainability Management.
Qualification Structure
To be awarded the qualification, learners must successfully complete all units and meet all learning outcomes within the current qualification specification. The qualification grading structure is pass or fail.
The Level 7 International Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental and Sustainability Management consists of 4 mandatory units and 5 optional units (with candidates taking 6 units in total), totaling 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT), and a minimum of 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).

- Environmental Politics and Policies (20 Credits)
- Sustainable Finance (20 Credits)
- Sustainability as a Business Strategy (20 Credits)
Learner Task Guidance
All assessment evidence submitted must be the learner’s own work. Plagiarism or collusion may result in withdrawal from the qualification. Learners should reference a range of internal and external sources, including organizational policies, regulatory guidance (e.g., Health and Safety Executive), academic publications, and credible internet sources.
At Level 7, learners are expected to:
- Apply learned methods and techniques to review, consolidate, and extend their knowledge.
- Critically evaluate arguments and data, making judgments to identify solutions to problems.
- Communicate effectively with both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Entry Requirements
This qualification is designed for learners aged 21 and above. Entry profiles may include:
- A relevant Level 6 qualification (normally an Honours degree or equivalent).
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience (confirmation required with the delivery centre).
- English language competency for learners from non-majority English-speaking countries.
Duration and Delivery
The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study, but also accommodates part-time and distance learning. Delivery methods include face-to-face lectures, tutorials, seminars, and online formats through approved centres.
Assessment and Verification
All units are assessed and internally quality assured by the centre, with external verification by OTHM. To achieve a pass, learners must provide evidence demonstrating that they meet all specified learning outcomes. Specific assessment guidance and marking criteria are available in the Assignment Brief document provided to centres upon learner registration.
Progression
Successful completion of the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Environmental and Sustainability Management enables learners to progress into employment or further study. This qualification, regulated by Ofqual, allows eligibility for Master’s top-up programmes at various UK and overseas universities.
